Innovation award at FIMA 2026 for modern fertiliser technology from RAUCH
RAUCH Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH was honoured at the 44th International Agricultural Machinery Fair FIMA in Zaragoza as part of the "Technical Innovations" competition for its developments in precision fertiliser technology. The award-winning technologies VarioSmart, OptiPoint pro+ and CornerControl improve the accuracy of mineral fertiliser application and thus make an important contribution to efficient and resource-saving agriculture. KUHN Ibérica, a long-standing partner, accepted the award at the trade fair. In the "Powered Machines" category, KUHN Ibérica received the "Outstanding Technical Innovation" award for the VarioSmart system for mechanically driven AXIS fertiliser spreaders. This is the world's first drive system for spreading discs with speed control that is mechanically operated via the PTO shaft. The speed of the spreading discs can be continuously adjusted between 300 and 1100 rpm. An integrated EMC sensor reliably measures the speed and enables precise real-time control. This means that mass flow measurement remains unaffected, allowing fertiliser to be dosed with a very high degree of accuracy. The system is completely enclosed and therefore maintenance-free and particularly robust against dust, moisture and fertiliser particles. Thanks to its compact design, it can be fully integrated into the spreader's drive chain. This technology was already awarded the silver medal in the Innovation Awards at Agritechnica 2025. This is further proof of the technological progress made in precision fertilisation. In the category "Agronomic Management Solutions, Software and digitalisation", the combination of the CornerControl and OptiPoint pro+ systems for AXIS fertiliser spreaders also received the "Technical Innovation" award. Both technologies improve the precision of fertiliser application, especially in critical areas such as corners, field edges and headlands of agricultural land. CornerControl automatically adjusts the spreading discs to the respective situation in the corners of the field. Speed and drop points are dynamically controlled to achieve even distribution without overlaps or gaps. Intelligent algorithms help the driver to avoid operating errors. OptiPoint pro+ calculates the optimum time to open and close the spreader at the headland. This ensures that the exact amount of fertiliser is applied during turning manoeuvres and that nutrients are distributed evenly over the entire area. The result is fewer passes, higher efficiency and a significantly more precise application of fertilisers. These outstanding developments once again demonstrate how technological innovations are transforming agriculture. Precise sensor technology, intelligent controls and robust machine concepts now enable increasingly efficient use of operating resources, which is a decisive factor for economical and sustainable agriculture.
